This is great news for the popular Sailing’s man Colm Barrington. He has been elected as the first Vice-President of the Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI). The voting took place during the EGM held at the Conrad Hotel in Dublin. Barrington is very happy to be voted as the vice President of the OCI.
Barrington will start a new era in the Council as he ends the three decade rule of the OCI by former President Pat Hickey. Everyone is expecting something good to happen to Barrington’s rule. He enjoyed a landslide victory during the EGM vote. It looks like the voters have a lot of faith in the way he will be running the Council. The Aon Youth Sailing World Championship has been running and in the girl’s category Greta and Kate Stewart has gained an edge on the overall scores by day three of the championship which was on 19th December 2016. This was a consistent performance by the sisters as they race off the Torbay course in Auckland.
They have gained points to move into second position. They represent New Zealand and the three races that they sailed on the third day saw them having good results in a fleet that consists of 24 boats. Kate states that it is definitely good and advantageous to be among the top five in the races. The girls are happy, but they are not being complacent about their performance. They admit that they cannot afford to lose focus as the remaining days of the competition come on.
